If you haven’t figured it out already, I’ll make it obvious:

I’m a feminist.

“Feminist” is not a bad word, nor a negative trait.

Yes, there are different types of feminism, and no, you don’t have to identify with all of them. Feminism, in general – and, not including its most radical sects – is simply the belief that everyone should be equal.

I’m constantly surprised by the small number of women in business I see outwardly identifying themselves as feminists. There is absolutely room for feminism in business!

While there are some stylized breeds of feminism out there – usually dressed up with words like #GIRLBOSS and #HUSTLER – we must not be afraid of using the F word for fear of scaring clients and readers away.

And, just to be clear, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with identifying as a Girl Boss, or a hustler, or a ladypreneur. If that’s your scene, I respect that. But we have to remember that we don’t need to feminize ourselves, or ~pretty up our businesses just to be women who are also entrepreneurs.

I’m sharing some of my fav feminist business quotes today, because they’re inspirational and give me a pretty good dose of 💪

If you’d like to support a business owner who is also a feminist, I recommend:
